We see all adults but we cater our Practice to serve the ones with intellectual or physical disabilities that may not have the same options as neurotypical adults.

NEW patient with Intellectual and Developmental Disability that has coverage with DIDD Waivers, ECF or is under care of an ICF (Intermediate Care Facility)

Sedation Consultation (New Patients)

Doctors use the consultation to meet the patient and family face-to-face, review health history, and go over any questions or concerns that either the family or doctor may have. The doctor also uses the time to determine what kind of sedation would be safest and best to help treat the patient. 

NEW patient with Intellectual and Developmental Disability that may need a form of sedation (GA, IV, Oral, Pre-meds, etc.)  for dental appointments.

New patient with Intellectual and Developmental Disability with no insurance or with coverage through  other insurances like the TennCare (Adult Medicaid Plan).

Neurotypical patients looking for a dental home that have coverage with the TennCare Adult Medicaid Plan.

* Our practice is not the best place if you are just looking to have a tooth extracted, or some other paliative care. We are designed to be a dental home where patients will partner with the clinical team to achieve their dental goals.

Welcoming Dr. Alaina Marinello to our Team!

Dr. Marinello

Dr. Marinello was drawn to MDV DDS by her deep commitment to improving dental care and promoting inclusion for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Her previous experiences working at Orange Grove Center, providing dental services to the I/DD community both in clinical settings and group homes, laid the foundation for her passion and dedication to this field.

Throughout her career, Dr. Marinello has achieved several significant accomplishments. She serves as the Clinical Director for the “Special Smiles” program in East TN, an initiative under Special Olympics that aims to provide oral health care to athletes with intellectual disabilities. Additionally, she holds the position of New Dentist Chair in the Chattanooga Area Dental Society (CADS), where she actively contributes to the professional development of her fellow dentists. Furthermore, she is an esteemed member of the American Academy of Medicine and Dentistry (AADMD), demonstrating her commitment to advancing dental practices and promoting overall health in her community. She draws inspiration from her older brother Christopher, who shares her passion for promoting inclusion for the I/DD population in Chattanooga.
